The UK Airport Shop VAT Rip-Off!

Today, let’s talk about how airport shops in the UK are ripping off many of their customers. They do it by asking to see their customers boarding passes. After processing it they get it back. What they don’t tell the customer is why they actually do this.

The answer was revealed by The Independent newspaper. It is simply an elaborate ruse by airport shops to save on their tax bills while keeping prices high.

A visit to an airport

Today, let’s talk about a visit to an airport. Many of us are likely to visit one when we go on holiday. Others who don’t jet-off are likely to pick someone up or drop them off at the drop off zones outside most airports. These days many airport owners make a killing by charging exorbitant car park fees, both for short stay and long stay car parks. People are encouraged to take the bus or train to avoid this.

Ryanair boss tells stupid passengers who don’t print off their boarding passes where to go…

Ryanair boss Michael O’Leary hit the headlines again recently when he hit back at a female passenger who was forced to pay a penalty of €300 (£237) in order to fly home from her holiday because she forgot to print her boarding cards off in time. Mr O’Leary launched his extraordinary rant against Sue McLeod, 35, from Newbury, Berkshire, branding ‘those passengers who object to paying a penalty for failing to print their own boarding cards as ‘idiots’ who should b***** off’.

Mr O’Leary added that passengers who arrive for flights without a pass are ‘stupid’ and it is right they are charged €60 a time to have one printed at the check-in desk because it is their ‘**** up’. Mr O’Leary added, ‘Mother pays €300 for being an idiot and failing to comply with her agreement at the time of booking. We think Mrs McLeod should pay €60 (£47.40) for being so stupid.’

Fat and disruptive passengers on aeroplanes

Today, let’s talk about fat and disruptive people on aeroplanes. It’s a good topic to talk about, as most of us have to suffer sitting next to one of these or similar when travelling on an aeroplane.

I will just add I do not wish to be discriminatory to anyone in particular whilst writing this article. However, in the last few weeks various news stories continue to be written that cover these two categories, so it makes a good talking point today!
